Windermere Foundation Presents Funding to Oregon City Backpack Buddies
This $2,000 donation will purchase food to fill backpacks that are given to low-income children.
PORTLAND, Ore. –December 1, 2014 – Windermere Stellar recently presented a check at its Lake Oswego branch to Oregon City Backpack Buddies, a nonprofit organization that provides food for low-income children to take home during the weekend.
Many children who receive free and reduced lunch at school during the week go hungry on the weekend. To address this crisis, Oregon City Backpack Buddies gives low-income children a backpack full of food to take home at the end of the school week. The $2,000 donation from the Windermere Foundation will be used to supply backpacks with non-perishable food items, including oatmeal, fruit cups, soup, chili, juice packs, tuna, crackers, granola bars and peanut butter.
Windermere Stellar has a long-standing tradition of assisting low-income families and giving to the community. In addition to helping Oregon City Backpack Buddies, Windermere Stellar associates participate in annual community service projects and donate a portion of every commission to the Windermere Foundation — a nonprofit organization that has raised and donated more than $2 million to programs that support low-income children and families in the Portland metro and north Oregon coast area.
