Windermere Foundation Presents Funding to
REACH Community Development
This $1,500 Donation will be Used as Matching Dollars in REACH’s Youth$ave Program
PORTLAND, Ore. – August 28, 2014 – Windermere Stellar recently presented a check at its Southeast Portland branch to REACH Community Development (REACH), a nonprofit organization headquartered in Southwest Portland that provides affordable housing to low-income residents throughout the Portland metro area.
In addition to offering housing assistance, REACH hosts a multitude of programs centered on developing economic stability and providing career and educational opportunities for low-income youth and families. The Youth$ave Program is designed to help youth living in REACH housing break the cycle of generational poverty by learning how to budget, save, use credit and spend wisely. Youth attend courses from October through May and save money, which REACH matches 2:1, that is used for educational, artistic, athletic or entrepreneurial opportunities. Many of the youth who participate in the Youth$ave Program are able to fund extracurricular school activities that they might not otherwise be able to participate in.
Windermere has a long-standing tradition of assisting low-income children and families and giving to the community. In addition to helping REACH, Windermere associates participate in annual community service projects and donate a portion of every commission to the Windermere Foundation – a nonprofit organization that has raised and donated more than $2 million to programs that support low-income children and families in the Portland metro and north Oregon coast area.
