Windermere Foundation Presents Funding to I Have a Dream of Oregon
This $3,000 donation will provide programming that supports
a culture of college and career for students from low-income backgrounds

Portland, Ore. — June 2, 2014 — Windermere Stellar recently presented a donation at its Northwest Portland branch to I Have a Dream of Oregon, a nonprofit organization located in Northeast Portland that helps children from low-income families succeed in school, college and career.
In 2007, the Windermere Foundation began supporting a class of third grade “Dreamers” that had been identified and adopted into the I Have a Dream of Oregon program, which includes mentorship, academic support and the introduction of a culture of college and career. The Foundation has continued to donate to these “Dreamers” throughout their education over the past seven years.
This class of “Dreamers” is now completing their freshman year of high school and involved in programs that support the benefits of education for a successful career. Kate Lee, program coordinator for I Have a Dream of Oregon, explained that many of the “Dreamers” will be the first in their family to go to college.
“When they’re thinking about what life might look like after high school, what they have in front of them isn’t necessarily post-secondary education, and that’s where I Have a Dream comes in,” said Lee.
The $3,000 donation made by the Windermere Foundation will help fund trips to college campuses and personal college savings plans for each student.
Windermere has a long-standing tradition of assisting low-income families and giving to the community. In addition to helping I Have a Dream of Oregon, Windermere associates participate in annual community service projects and donate a portion of every commission to the Windermere Foundation – a nonprofit organization that has raised and donated more than $2 million to programs that support low-income children and families in the Portland metro and north Oregon coast area.
