Foundation Donation to Children First for Oregon

Windermere Foundation Presents Funding to Children First for Oregon

This $1,500 Donation will Support the Oregon Foster Youth Connection

Portland, Ore.—September 3, 2013—Windermere Cronin & Caplan Realty Group, Inc. recently presented a check at its Moreland branch to Children First for Oregon, a nonprofit organization located in Southeast Portland that works to influence policies that positively affect children in Oregon. The $1,500 will benefit its Oregon Foster Youth Connection (OFYC) program, which empowers foster youth to advocate for policies and programs that will improve the state’s foster care system.

OFYC is a statewide group of 85 current and former foster youth between 14-25 years old. The funds will support its Resource Center, a place for foster youth to access resources like computers, a library, and education assistance, as well as gather and connect with one another. Together, youth from OFYC are becoming involved in policy discussions that will help shape the practices that affect foster youth.

Windermere has a long-standing tradition of assisting low-income families and giving to the community. In addition to helping Children First for Oregon, Windermere associates participate in annual community service projects and donate a portion of every commission to the Windermere Foundation — a nonprofit organization that has raised and donated more than $2,000,000 to programs that support low-income and homeless families in the Portland metro and north Oregon Coast area.

About the Windermere Foundation

For every home that is bought or sold through Windermere, a portion of the commission is donated to the Windermere Foundation, which supports low-income and homeless families in our communities. What started in 1989 as a grassroots foundation has grown to encompass ten states and has raised $25 million for programs and organizations that provide shelter, clothing, children’s programs, emergency assistance, and other services to those who need our help most.

In Oregon, Windermere has raised more than $2,000,000 for the Windermere Foundation in support of local organizations offering housing and services to homeless and low-income families. Organizations such as Bridge Meadows, New Avenues for Youth, and Providence Portland Medical Foundation’s guest housing were included in the 2012 giving.
