Windermere Stellar Manager Receives Children’s Justice Center Award
VANCOUVER, Wash. — December 22, 2014 — The Children’s Justice Center (CJC) recently announced Gerry Dowdy Latshaw, Managing Principal Broker for Windermere Stellar, as the 2014 recipient of its prestigious Children’s Advocacy Star Award. The honor is given to community members that have proved their commitment and support for CJC’s mission to provide a safe place for child crime victims while promoting healing and justice.
“In over thirty years of working to address child abuse, I have had the privilege of knowing some very special people who recognize the value of our children,” said Mary Blanchette, Executive Director of the Children’s Justice Center. “Gerry is one of those amazing community members who has given her time, talent and effort to help local child crime victims. She is so very deserving of this Children’s Advocacy Star Award.”
Dowdy Latshaw has been instrumental in fundraising for the CJC by initiating and organizing Windermere Stellar’s Children’s Justice Center Gala. Real estate brokers, clients and community leaders came together for the event, which raised nearly $117,000 in only its second year (2014), with all proceeds benefiting the CJC.
“Helping children who are powerless over their circumstances is just one of the ways in which we strive to better our community as real estate professionals,” said Dowdy Latshaw. “It is an honor to receive this award and a privilege to have worked side-by-side with those embarking on such a meaningful cause.”
Children’s Justice Center:
The Children’s Justice Center provides a safe and supportive place for child victims of crime. The center’s multidisciplinary response team comes together from across a network of both public and private agencies to provide a comprehensive and sensitive response that includes effective identification of local perpetrators and promoting justice for the child, as well as, supportive and healing services.
