Local Windermere Groups Kick Off Company Meeting with Two Donations Totaling $122,600
Real estate expert and speaker, Steve Harney, donates 10 percent of his speaking fee to the Windermere Foundation
PORTLAND, Ore. — January 15, 2013 — Abiding by a long-standing tradition of putting community first, donations were top of the agenda for two local Windermere groups at the all-company meeting earlier this week. Windermere Cronin & Caplan Realty Group, Inc. (CCRGI) presented $100,000 to the Providence Portland Medical Foundation in Portland, Ore.; and Windermere Real Estate/Stellar Group presented $22,600 to the Children’s Justice Center in Vancouver, Wash. While every agent contributes a portion of their commission from the sale of every home, the majority of the fundraising for the local Windermere Foundation chapter was completed through unique campaigns and personal agent donations.
This inspired the meeting’s headliner, real estate expert and speaker, Steve Harney, to donate ten percent of his speaking fee to the Windermere Foundation. “It is truly phenomenal that the beginning of the meeting focused on giving back to the community and not about what the company and its agents could make,” said Harney.
The donations represent an expected standard within the company’s culture. Unique to CCRGI, the “Rise to the Challenge” is a friendly year-long contest, in which the offices compete to raise the most money for charity. The Northwest Portland office was the 2012 winner with $48,201 raised for the foundation. The total 2012 “Rise to the Challenge” amount was $133,287, representing 119 percent of the original goal.
“Giving to the community is an extension of what we do as real estate professionals every day — which is provide services that will help our clients and communities build a better future,” said Joan Allen, Co-Chair of the Windermere Foundation and Co-Owner of Windermere CCRGI/Stellar Group. “We love the neighborhoods where we live and work; and this infectious enthusiasm is ingrained within our company’s core.”
Last year, the eleven offices within the real estate network combined to disperse contributions among thirty-two charities. Beneficiaries were spread throughout the communities served by the offices in the Portland metro-area, Vancouver, Wash. and the northern Ore. coast.
The $100,000 contribution will help fund the “Windermere Kitchen” at the Providence Guest House. The Providence Guest House will provide an affordable home-away-from-home for patients and their families who travel to Providence Medical Center in Portland for critical medical treatments.
The $22,600 contribution will help the Children’s Justice Center in its mission to provide a safe space for child victims and their non-offending family members to effectively address incidents of child abuse in Clark County.

About the Windermere Foundation
For every home that is bought or sold through Windermere, the Windermere Foundation donates a portion of the proceeds toward supporting low-income and homeless families in our communities. What started in 1989 as a grassroots foundation serving Seattle-area families in need, has grown to encompass ten states and has raised $25 million for programs and organizations that provide shelter, clothing, children’s programs, emergency assistance, and other services to those who need our help most.
More specifically, Windermere CCRGI has raised more than $1,000,000 for the Windermere Foundation in support of local organizations offering housing and services to homeless and low‐income families. Organizations such as New Avenues for Youth, YWCA of Greater Portland and Habitat for Humanity were included in the 2012 giving. More information can be found at www.windermere.com/foundation.
