The gift built the Windermere House at Bridge Meadows, the innovative alternative to traditional foster care
PORTLAND, OR. – February 21, 2011 – Four years ago, Windermere Cronin & Caplan Realty Group, Inc. committed to raise $250,000 over four years for Bridge Meadows, a planned intergenerational community that provides foster care youth with permanent homes where thriving, healthy families raise them in an environment of support. The firm awarded Bridge Meadows the first $62,500 to start the building in 2009. An additional check for $190,000 was given to the organization at Windermere’s 2011 kick-off all-company meeting.
The money will be used to fund the Windermere House, the only single family home in the Bridge Meadows complex, which opens this spring.
“Amazingly, the quarter million dollars were raised by our agents and staff during one of the worst real estate recessions in decades,” comments Joan Allen. “For four years, our professionals went above and beyond their mandatory Windermere Foundation donation (taken out of each commission check), made personal donations and held various fundraisers to support the effort.” In addition to the $250,000 raised for Bridge Meadows, an additional $222,000 was raised during the four years and donated to 51 other local non-profit organizations dedicated to assisting low-income and homeless children and families in the Portland Metro area and North Oregon Coast.
Joan and Brian Allen, the owners of Windermere Cronin & Caplan Realty Group, presented the $190,000 check to Derenda Schubert, Rhonda Meadows and Jo Anne Long of Bridge Meadows while the company’s agents and employees celebrated this remarkable achievement.
