Windermere Foundation Presents Funding to Urban Gleaners
PORTLAND, Ore. — June 2, 2015 — Windermere Stellar recently presented a $2,000 donation at its Northeast Portland branch to Urban Gleaners, a nonprofit organization located in Southeast Portland that helps alleviate hunger by collecting edible surplus foods and redistributing it to agencies that feed the hungry.
Urban Gleaners will use this donation to help add two new elementary schools and two Section 8 housing complexes to its existing Food to Schools program, which serves East Multnomah County. Currently, Urban Gleaners serves 17 elementary schools and delivers up to 800 pounds of fresh food per school at no charge. This food helps feed children who may otherwise only receive subsidized breakfast and lunch at school, with no other daily meals.
